Dry Cooking in a Crock Pot

I have houseguests and yesterday I made a pot roast in the crockpot.

We all thought it was pretty good. They said they were going to get one too. I was looking at some recipes for them to use and I ran across one that said I could cook a pork shoulder in the crock pot- dry.

This seem right to you all? :pig: ?

Any other things to dry cook in one?

Experience, facts, conjectures all welcomed...
 
The fat from the shoulder will create enough juice. By the time it's cooked the juice will be half-way up that baby!!!! I like to cook mine to the point of falling apart, which can take 10 - 12 hours depending on the size of the pork roast.

Crockpot cooking can be very addictive!!!!!!

I had the BEST chocolate cake/type dessert cooked in a crockpot.

I've never started dry but I have browned pork butts or chuck roasts in a large pot, poured off the fat, deglazed the pot with water, stock, beer, or wine and used only the deglazing liquid in the crock pot.
