Whole chicken with no liquid in crockpot

Yes. I use to do mine like that but I dotted it with butter. It makes it's own liquid that I would add just enough water to and cook a pot of rice.
 
I don't recommend any liquid either- the natural juices will yield enough. I agree with dotting with butter, or spraying with cooking spray. Better yet, I am soooo addicted to those crock pot liners, and spray those with cooking spray. And add herbs if you like. A dash of liquid smoke will make a tasty bird too. I like throwing chicken, breasts or whole, in the crock, when I plan on making dishes that require pre-cooked chicken. Add some ro-tel, garlic, and cilantro for awesome fajita or quesadilla chicken. :)
 
I put my whole chicken in the crock with no liquid. I use a dry rub - I put my chicken breast side down - I get alot of juices and very moist chicken!
