I am making cheese potato balls for supper tonight...but I am out of corn flakes. Here is the recipe. Do you think it'll be OK to use dried bread crumbs instead? Thanks!

Cheese Potato Balls

INGREDIENTS:

2 C cold mashed potatoes
1 egg
1 T melted butter
2 T water
1/2 C grated American cheese
1/2 t salt
3/4 C cornflake crumbs

Mix together; potatoes, butter and cheese. Shape into balls, about 2 inches in size.

Mix together; egg, water and salt. Dip potato balls into cornflake crumbs, then egg mixture, then cornflake crumbs again. Bake at 400 for 10-12 minutes.

You might consider crushed Ritz crackers. They make a wonderful topping, and I'll bet they'd make a great coating also.

Thanks for the recipe...looks tasty!

another item that work well is crushed potato chips.

I used sour cream and oinion potato chips on some chix tenders after watching a cooking show. I was doubtfull but tried and they were excellent.
