Don't exactly know. Sounds much like this recipe though.

Italian Tomato Casserole
olive oil
4 cans stewed tomatoes
8 slices stale bread
1/4 c fresh basil leaves, sliced
Salt and pepper to taste
2 c cheese, shredded (mozzarella cheese, gruyere, parmesan, etc)
Dry bread crumbs mixed with 2 ts olive oil
Fresh basil for garnish

1.Line the bottom of a large casserole with bread slices. Drizzle bread liberally with olive oil.
2.Layer bread slices with stewed tomatoes, then fresh basil leaves. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Let stand for 30 mins to allow bread to soak up olive oil and tomato juices. Can be refrigerated overnight.
3.Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. During the last 15 minutes, sprinkle with cheeses and bread crumb mix.
4.Continue to bake until cheese is melted and bread crumbs are slightly browned. Garnish with fresh basil.
