Pinto Beans

What is the matter with dried pinto beans these days that they turn the water bright wine red when one is trying to
cook them??? Are they somehow contaminated? I've cooked these all my life, and have never had trouble like this until this last year.

I've always had my pintos change to color of the cooking liquid. Mybe someone else has an answer for you, sorry!
