Hi Cara,

This is intriguing -- minced (ground) pork on top of an onion potato mix. But please tell me your suggested roasting time.

And can you suggest some vegetables to serve with this dish, please.

avoka, I don't know about the roasting time... you must have a look if it's ready.. but I would suggest about 40-50min...
usually you don't serve anything else with it... but I could imagine, brussel sprouts or cauliflower could be tasty... just try something ;o))

Sounds like an upside down shepherd's pie with pork instead of lamb.

Sounds good though.

It's kind of like an upside-down Shepherd's pie! Sounds very good.

I always like peas with my mashed potatoes, so that's what I'd serve with it.

I wonder if I might be bold enough to make a suggestion, Cara, about your recipe Mecklenburger Coloured Cat? Perhaps it would be even nicer with peas mixed in with the mashed potatoes, and with Apple Sauce poured over the pork after cooking. Here is my suggested modified recipe:

Mecklenburger Bunte Katze (Mecklenburger Coloured Cat)

Cook peas and potatoes.

Mash the potatoes, and mix in the peas.
Chop the onions and sauté in butter and oil until light brown; mix into the peas & potato mash.
Add salt & pepper to the pork.
Put the mash in a dish and top with the minced pork. Place in oven and roast at high temperature (195 °C) about 40-50 minutes until the meat is crispy

Meanwhile make apple sauce to pour over the cooked pork.
Serve with Brussels sprouts or cauliflower.

avoca, feel free to do whatever you want.. ;o)
I have never tried it with peas, but it sounds good, but I would definetely skip the applesauce
