My chow mien needs help

i'm going to be making a chow mien dish this weekend.
very simple .i was going to cook the veggies(carrots,celery,mushrooms, broccoli) julienne strips and small pieces
toss in noodels and bean sprouts. oh and some shrimp
i was wondering about a sauce to cook it in- i have chicken broth,i also have a soya sauce and a stir fry sauce. I want flavour but i don't want to make it heavy like a stir fry.
any ideas and tips would be great.
 
Go buy either an oyster sauce (my personal preference) or a teriyaki sauce. Just toss a squirt in with your chow mein and it will perk it right up.
 
I second Alix's suggestion. Oyster sauce is particularly tasty, even though I don't eat oysters themselves. Also spice them up with crushed garlic and freshly ground ginger root when you sautè the vegs.
 
Try this combination:


2 Tb Oyster Sauce
1 Tb Soy Sauce
1/2 Tb Dry Sherry
1/2 tsp Sugar
2 tsp Cornstarch
1/4 C Chicken or Vegetable Stock

Combine the ingredients and add it to the stir-fry.
 
I add chopped garlic to my fried noodles at all times and season with soya sauce and pepper. I do not use oyster sauce in my Asian cooking because of health concerns.
