TNT: Dithmarscher Krautsalat - Dithmarscher Coleslaw

The Region of Dithmarschen in the north of Germany is Europes biggest growing area for white cabbage.

This Recipe is from a friend who lives in that region.

ca. 4 pounds white cabbage, grated
2 chopped onions

1 cup oil
1 cup herb vinegar
3/4 cup sugar
1Tbs. salt

cook the ingridients for the sauce, pour over grated cabbage & onions, mix well.
enjoy ;o)

Hi cara,
I've never seen white cabbage here, do you suppose our green cabbage would work? Or even the curly cabbage? Your recipe sounds so good and we all love cabbage salads and I want to try out your recipe..But don't want to ruin it.Thanks for any help.

You know, this recipe sounds just like slaw, so I think you could sub green cabbage.

I was told the white cabbage Cara used is what we call green cabbage..So I'm going to make this soon. It looks great.
