Did you know...
Auguste Escoffier
Escoffier was a legendary French chef credited with inventing Pêche Melba and other classic dishes. He formed a partnership with César Ritz, and the two men established a number of famous hotels, including the Grand Hotel in Rome and numerous Ritz Hotels around the world. In 1902, Escoffier published Le Guide Culinaire, which contains 5,000 recipes and is still used today as both a cookbook and textbook for classic cooking.

in 1767, John Spilbury, a teacher in England and formerly the apprentice to the royal geographer, made the first jigsaw puzzle. He glued a map of England and Wales to a board and used a fine saw to cut along the borders in hopes of creating a tool to teach his students geography. For the next twenty years, only geographical jigsaw puzzles were made. Interlocking pieces did not come along until the invention of power tools, more than a century later.
