Sounds easier and less messy. I don't know what they used as the active ingredient back in the 1950s and 60s, but my mum used to use Adolph's Meat Tenderizer and it worked well.
Guga Foods and Sous Vide Everything channels on YouTube are made by the same people. They are good -- I watch them all. Guga does a lot of experiments with different ways of preparing meats to cook.
