I just had the front of my old (1854) house painted, and someone blew out a candle (rather than using the snuffer). There is candle wax on a dark green wall. Anyone have any ideas how to remove it without messing up the beautiful paint? In fact, I'll be able to disguise it, and would rather do that than scrub it and make more of a mess.

Use an iron on a low setting over a towel or paper towel. The iron will heat the wax which will absorb into the towel.

Low setting!

Works for carpet too.

Oh, I was just going to say the ice cube trick too. Then if any is left, do the papertowel trick. Keep turning the towel or use a few.
Good luck.
I've used both methods on my good tablecloths.
