I am not familiar with that specific dish so I goggled a recipie for it. The recipie said there were potatoes in it.

Okay, that's odd. I have had it served in many Indian restaurants and made it according to different recipes and never seen potatoes in vindaloo. If you like really hot food, you should give it a try. Works well with pork and snowshoe hare as well.
