Favorites or, what's on your iPod?

Mine is about to be rearranged as there are songs on there I wouldn't have chosen.

Am told it holds 500 songs.

My music is varied but includes some of the following:

Highlights from the Phantom of the Opera
Barry Manilow
Toto
Elvis
Gene Pitney
Queen
Neil Sedaka
Ricky Nelson
Elton John
Il Divo
Martina McBride
Oassis
Michael McDonald
Jefferson Airplane
Journey's Greatest Hits
Electric Flag
Eric Clapton
Andrea Bocelli
Dirty Dancing
Yanni Live at the Acropolis
Frank Sinatra
Lee Dresser, El Camino Real
Tony Bennett
Diana Krawl
Sam Samudio, Wooly Bully
Bonnie Raitt

What's on yours? I was hoping to have you list what's on yours, or at least, list some of what's on there.

Mine has 1040 songs at the moment, the most played is stuff like Air, Arcade Fire etc but I dunno if they're my favourites. Probably Queen is my favourite

Travis
Chemical Brothers
Nelly
Ricky Martin
Sugar Ray
Maroon 5
VNV Nation
Will Smith
Foo Fighters
and some Italian bands/singers (Zero Assoluto, Negramaro, Raf, Subsonica, Laura Pausini)

GB, You and I could spend days talking about music. I spend all my time (when not perusing DC) immersed in music-new and old. -Its my passion-its what I do. Listening, seeking it out, writing and recording. Luckily for me, its how I spend my days...and I take it very seriously. Just to comment on a few of the bands you mentioned....

Bright Eyes-Conor Oberst & co are a "local" band for me-I've been fortunate to catch him live many times. He is a brilliant songwriter.

Cowboy Junkies-The most underrated , and unappreciated band in modern history. The "Trinity Sessions" still move me after 20+ years

Diana Krall-She epitomizes cool in every way-a modern day torch singer if there ever was one

Hedwig(and the angry inch) while the subject matter is "questionable" for most, probably the best album, song for song, that nobodys ever heard-and the movie wasn'nt bad either!!

Parliment-The first real concert I ever went to-Bootsy blew me away!!

Richard Thompson-"The hand of kindness" is currently on my maximum rotation list. How can you not want to dance to "tear stained letter"? And as an aside "shoot out the lights" (Richard & Linda Thompson) is one of my favorite albums of all time!!!

The Jayhawks-"Hollywood Town hall" is again, one of the greatest albums most people have never heard. I've listened to it a couple of times a month since it was released...in the mid 90's!!!

But let me get back to the original thread (LEFSE,I always love your threads!!)

Gram Parsons -I've been obsesssed with the guy since high school-it wasn't about tricky chords and such-it was feeling that made him a legend to me-his duets w/Emmylou Harris, his time with the Greivous Angel, the flying Burrito bros and the Byrds-he brought that intangible something to whatever he did-and I often wonder what he'd be doing now had he lived...

Whiskeytown-Ryan Adams, despite his age is a songwriter that eventually will be respected. Hopefully, he'll be able to keep his habits in check and make it to 30!!!

Tift Merrit-Again, an "alt-rock" phenom (I hate labels) who seems to be flying under the radar. Lots of good stuff on you tube. And shes a cutie, too.

Buckethead-Set aside the gimmicks and tomfoolery-this guy can play!!!!

The Cowslingers-a now defunct band out of Cleveland, the term "cowpunkabilly" started with these guys. A whole lot of recorded material, and very few bad tracks. Just a fun, fun band.

The Twang Dragons-I don't know what to say except check them out on youtube. A great band that isn't getting their due

The Lonesome Spurs-A 2 pc band...so much fun theyought to be illegal!!!!

and I could go on. I did'nt mention Los Straitjackets. The Neptunes, the NY Dolls, the Hillbilly Hellcats, Dash Riprock, The Ramones, Charlie Burton (w/Rock Therapy, the Cut-outs and the Hiccups) Southern Culture on the skids. the Fotstompin' trio, Estrume n'Tal...and the list goes on!!

Yeah, Yeah I know-I should get a "real" job or at least a hobby!!

LEFSE-Thanks for the great thread!!

Yeah we really could talk forever man!

Bright Eye really is a brilliant songwriter. I would not go as far as calling him this generations Dylan as some have, but I do not think anyone in my lifetime could compare to him. I would be happy if I am wrong about that though.

When I think of Diana Krall, COOL is absolutely the word that comes to mind. Not to mention blond, leggy and gorgeous

I have never been able to get into Buckethead. I will absolutely agree that the guy has amazing talent. His sound is just not one that I enjoy. If I could play even 1/1000 as good as he can play then I would consider myself lucky.
