Have you ever wondered?

I'm starting this line with one question, and it has to do with English grammar, but anyone can ask a question, and please, anyone with an answer, help us.

Have you ever wondered why I (first person) in English is capitalized, but not us, you, we, etc? I think (don't remember for sure) that all nouns are capitalized in German, and I don't the je is in French. So why in English, do we always capitalize I?

I (tee hee) found this explanation on Wikipedia:
I (pronoun) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It has several theories on the why. They all seem plausible.
