This is a little more challenging than Haiku, but give it a shot:

In Las Vegas thank God it's Friday
I say that in sort of a wry way
The Big Race is in town
and tourists abound
Have fun, spend up, and go A-way.

I'm watching the POTUS on CSPAN
I've never been much of a big fan
He butchers his words
Offends 'language nerds'
But he's 'folksy' and makes a good pitch-man.

This might help.

Think I'll need a few cups of coffee before I tackle this one.

Z you have talent!

Some people need to try this thread
I know it makes you scratch your head
but give it a try
and try not to cry
when your rhymes the critics may shred.

So far I'm here all alone
But at least the seeds have been sewn
Put your thinking caps on
And sip your Ceylon
Put your words down and cause us to groan.

I put ink in my printer today
Some stuff that I bought on ebay
The red cartridge spilled
Looks like I've been killed
(or maimed on my hand anyway)

Today we're expecting a rain,
"an inch or so" some folks complain.
But I love the weather,
it keeps us together
all bundled up in our domain.

In Pageland it's not so exciting
Today's weather's not very inviting.
But my sister today
Is now on the way,
And in that we are now delighting.

:) Barbara
(I haven't seen my sister in a little over 5 years since our mom died, and James has never met her. She and her boyfriend will be staying through tomorrow, then off to his mom's, since his mom is having surgery Monday)

Our chances for rain are not great,
and it is difficult to wait.
We've been oh-so dry,
and sometimes I sigh,
when it comes I must celebrate.

I hear our storm is a-coming
The patter on rooftops is drumming
The winds are whipping,
and water is dripping,
it's that or I must fix the plumbing!

My car was all shiny and clean
I mean it was REALLY pristine.
The rain came and went
and to my lament
left spots on my once-clean machine.

So sorry to hear of your story
as your car is no longer in glory
but think of this thought:
lest rained down was not
a large bowl of chicken cacciatore!

For us there is snow not the rain
The shovelling causes us pain
And today in the van
Nearly hit an old man
Methinks he did not use his brain

The snow has stopped falling
The sun I've been calling
but it's still cold
my bones feel old
and winter I find so appalling

If only the snow were sent over
to SoCal in a big Range Rover
Though try as it might
no melting in sight,
as the Rover's a fridge under cover.

jkath, The snow I would give if I could
make you happy, try I would
but it melted completely
and ever so sweetly
there's nothing where Frosty once stood.

So THAT's where this rain has been sent from!
It's frosty who's melted, (and so glum!)
I'll put him in trays
and freeze him away
and use him for ice cubes in my rum!

oooh, limericks! What fun! I LOVE making up limericks!

I'm guessing there are some ground rules, such as "keep it clean" and "no hitting below the waist".

So, to begin with...

The Limerick Challenge, such fun!
They're spontaneus, under-the-gun
But given my luck,
there are words like "Nantuck
-et" that won't get their day in the sun.

(I tried to keep that as clean as possible, without compromising the original meaning of the limerick)

Brickman has joined in the party
his start, it was big and full hearty.
These limericks would seem,
from the Isle 'O Green
So We'll call him "Brickman O'Smarty".

I love jkath's new avatar
It really is right on par
It is so sweet
And quite neat
It should be a logo on a jar!

(okay.. i'm SO not good at this game... i tried though! LOL)
