Back in December, I was planning a big (at least, big by my standards!) party for my son's 16th b-day. It was a Medieval themed party and I needed help with some of the games and with the addressing of the invitations. Since you were SOOO VERY helpful :) , I want to share a few of the pics with you. Now, since the actual party pictures are of a lot of other peoples kids, I'm not comfortable putting them on the internet; however, there are some that can give an idea of what it was like. I'll post the pictures on the members photos page, but first, let me show you the invitation. I think it is incredible. Hopefully, the font will show up correctly when I post this. Oh, and keep in mind when reading this funky font, the "v" looks more like a "b". All the parents loved the "Olde English" part, and all the kids were grateful for the very last part! Now picture this on a long piece of cream colored paper to make it look kind of oldish. So, without any further ado, here's the invitation:

WHAT NEWS! WHAT NEWS!
Sir Daniel

hath abode on this world sixteen winters!

Thy presence is requested to attend
the ceremony of his coronation.
Befitting the high status Sir Daniel hath achieved,
thou wilt be refreshed with much merrymaking
and sundry tournaments.
When the golden sun melts the frost

on the morn of seventeen of December,

prepare to remove thyself to the abode of Sir Daniel.
The trumpets will blow two hours after the noon,
commencing the celebration and revelry.
Sir Daniel hath sworn
he will never eat on such high a holiday,
till he hath first partaken of some fair feat or fray,
or some marvel of might done by champions of chivalry.
With goodly impatients, Sir Daniel awaits
for thou to join with him and other knights of renown
and fair ladies of the court
in good fellowship and carefree mirth.
In these dangerous and warring times,
we must make preparation to identify friend or foe.
Prepare to dismount thy steed
with the confidential password on thy lips.
No admittance will be provided lest ye state

Excalibur.

In other words:

Please come help us celebrate Daniel’s 16th birthday!

Date: Saturday, December 17, 2005

wow ps8.....you put a lot of work into this party huh. Invitation is amazing, what made you decide on a medevil party?

Pictures are up! Yea! We decided on a medieval party because Daniel really enjoys knights, dragons, castles and King Arthur - but mostly, he thinks he is a King! Sometimes that can cause a problem - like when he tell me not to touch the king! Just in case I haven't mentioned it, he may be 16, but in some ways he's more like a little kid because he has Down Syndrome. He had such a grand time!

Well I think its amazing that you threw such a wonderful and memorable party for him. He's a very lucky boy to have you for a parent.

You might be right, maybe he's lucky to have us. But I believe WE are the truly blessed ones to have him! He's added so much to our family! Plus, we had a blast planning & throwing the party! There's something to be said for getting one's enjoyment from making someone else happy!
