What an Awesome Display of Cunning Pack Mentality!

At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and
even a certain justice manifested within that cruelty.

The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally
considered the "apex predator" in its natural eco-system, can still
fall victim to implemented 'team work' strategy, made possible due
to the tight knit social structure and "survival of the fittest pack
mentality", bred into the canines over thousands of
years by natural selection.

See the attached remarkable photograph courtesy of Nature Magazine ...

Note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it
from breathing, while the remainder of the pack prevents the beast
from rolling.

Not for the squeamish! Be sure you can handle the Raw Blood and Guts nature of this photo before scrolling down!!!

Ooooh MG I am so scared!!
Those deadly canines surely look fierce there...:-p

Thanks for the chuckle, Wasabi (you are so good at it!!) That was a great way to start the day!!

Oh........thanks for putting a smile on my face. Wonder what types of dogs those are....they are so cute. We're getting our youngest boy a dog for Easter and I was doing a search today for dogs up for adoption. I'll take one of those minus the gator.
