Spider Repellent?

I service breathing gas systems for a living. One private fire department/security force (the firemen carry side arms) that I service has rotting ostrich eggs hanging in mesh bags from the ceiling in the compressor room. When I asked why, I was told that they act as a spider repellent. The foul odor given off can't be detected by humans. I used the "google" and it seems to be true. Anyone ever heard of this?

The important thing is that the spiders have heard of it!

I've heard of various home brews containing cayenne pepper, dish soap, salt, etc...

I "Googled" it too. The only hits I got back were speculation and hearsay.

Had any of the eggs been cracked?

I'll bet ya if they had the aroma would have been quite off putting.

Perhaps it worked and perhaps it didn't.

But I'll stick with Raid because "The Greatest" said "I don't want you living with roaches"

I believe he would also extend that thought to spiders.
