It's pine pollen season. That means for the next three weeks everything outdoors will be covered with a heavy coating of yellow pollen. Visible clouds of pollen can actually be seen blowing through the area.

There is no keeping anything clean. There's no point in washing your car (or cleaning the interior), deck, grill or lawn chairs today because they’ll be pollen covered again when you wake up the next morning.

Even though pine pollen is not considered one that causes hay fever reactions, the sheer volume present is enough to irritate your eyes and throat.

Here's hoping it's gone by the Memorial Day weekend.

Huh. I have been sneezing like crazy lately, and we have a lot of conifers around here. Had not thought to consider it might be their pollen. Thanks Andy!

geez, andy. i thought you'd gotten a deadly tropical fungal infection and turned into a zombie.

glad to hear it's only allergies and dirty cars.

We get the same type of thing here in MD but it is from the oak trees. Everything id yellow for days...

You mean to tell me after all these years this song is about Spring Pollen?!?

"After The Goldrush"

Well, I dreamed I saw the knights
In armor coming,
Saying something about a queen.
There were peasants singing and
Drummers drumming
And the archer split the tree.
There was a fanfare blowing
To the sun
That was floating on the breeze.
Look at Mother Nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.
Look at Mother Nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.

I was lying in a burned out basement
With the full moon in my eyes.
I was hoping for replacement
When the sun burst thru the sky.
There was a band playing in my head
And I felt like getting high.
I was thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.
Thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.

Well, I dreamed I saw the silver
Space ships flying
In the yellow haze of the sun,
There were children crying
And colors flying
All around the chosen ones.
All in a dream, all in a dream
The loading had begun.
They were flying Mother Nature's
Silver seed to a new home in the sun.
Flying Mother Nature's
Silver seed to a new home.

Pine pollen?
Gee, thanks for giving me something else to worry about.

We just got past that here. There were drifts of it on the porch. We cleaned the porch and furniture again with a hose Saturday. Hopefully it's done.

Ugh .. we have it here too. It showed up 2 days ago ... went outside one day and everything was yellow. It has rained lightly the night before so there were puddles that were yellow. Can't even have the doors open, it comes in through the screens .. luckily it's only a short term thing !

In Laramie, WY it was the cottonwoods...it would look like a snow storm had hit and it would fly everywhere. There's no visible pollen here in Missoula, but there is something out there...my sinuses runneth over...
