This is gross, but I'm tellin' y'all anyway

I'm still peeling from getting sunburned in the Outer Banks during the week of July 4. The peel on my legs is coming off in sheets.

It's kinda cool to pull it off, with a satisfaction similar to popping bubble wrap. But I've never peeled this way before - usually it's more like dandruff on your skin.

I'm greasing up every night before going to bed, but I get a fresh new crop in the morning.

Is this sick, or what?

I'm in the exact same situation! Except I'm not even bothering to grease. I'm trying not to pull too much though, even though its tempting (it looks like there are all these holes and rips in the top layer of my skin) because I'm actually litterally peeling off my tan. My original white self is right underneath, and I'll have to wait a whole year to be tan again.

Mud it's happening to me too on my arms by my shoulders and on my chest. It's just not coming off in "sheets". Use some kind of loofah sponge in the shower and see if that helps remove some of it too.

middie, I use one of those nylon scrubbie things, but it keeps re-appearing.

I'm sort of into it, in a weird fascinated way.

I understand. Something even grosser is my sister has a pimple fetish. She's forever looking at people's backs to see if there's any to pop.
Ewwie !!!!!!!!

I was going to suggest a self-pic thread, but maybe I'll wait a month.

when younger we used to go to the outer banks every easter vacation. Love the area. Then we stay at the motel next to the holiday inn , before the holiday inn was there. it was very nice, kitchen and all. Don't know even if it is still there. We use to go to the wright bros museum. Bend burned there several times and loved it all.

OK has anyone here ever seen the Malcolm In The Middle episode where Reese gets a sunburn and starts to peel? He peels off one solid piece the shape of his whole body and hangs it on a hanger. That is what this thread just made me think of. Hilarious!

Just in case you want suggestions on how to help it stop ... try popping vitamin E capsules (clip the end with a finger nail clipper) and rubbing in the oil.
I have to agree on the satisfaction level, though, when you get a good sheet of skin. My sister, who is considerably darker than I, has never burned much less say peeled a day in her life. She used to love grabbing a fresh "peel" and pulling it off my brother and I. ick. ick.
