TRUTH !!
Virtually inert to all chemicals, Teflon is widely considered to be the most slippery material to date. It was discovered by accident when Dupont chemist Roy Plunkett was experimenting with refrigerant gases in 1938. He noticed that a frozen, compressed sample of tetrafluoroethylene had spontaneously polymerized to form polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) PTFEwas marketed as Teflon, and ended up applied to everything from pots to space suits.

a little Further trivia, since the PTFE on pots/pans isn`t really a great example of that the material actualy looks and feels like, if you have a look under the rotating glass dish in your microwave, very often the wheels/bearing are made of Teflon, it`s much better example of it as a material you can see and handle :)
