As is often pointed out to parents by academic slackers worldwide, the famous physicist was a notoriously poor student.
Disliked by many of his teachers, he had a difficult time landing a University job, and ended up concocting some of his strongest theorems while working as a Patent Office clerk.

I got the ones in red:

1. PENNA. AND MARYLAND--whoops, I went the wrong direction and said Virginia (I guess that would have made it really uncomfortable for D.C.!)
2. Loretta Young
3. "WHITE CHRISTMAS"
4. GERMAN SHEPHERD

5. MONDAY
6. SMORGASBORD--I got this one, but I have also heard it means "Groaning table" from all the food put on the table. :)
7. egg shells
8. Devil's Tower, Wyoming
CRAP !!
