TRUTH OR CRAP ??
when brass wire paper fasteners (we call them "staplers" now) were invented
in the 1860's, the patent for the row of pre-formed staples was considered more valuable than the patent for the contraption that applied them .

The first patent for a stapler that would hold a row of pre-formed staples
was not granted until 1887, 21 years after the invention of the brass wire
paper fastener, which accepted one staple at a time (WTF???)
