it was Mr. Potato head, in 1952.
The original Mr. Potato Head toy consisted
entirely of limbs and accessories; kids had to use a real potato for the
body. it wasn't until 1964 that he and the Mrs.. got plastic bodies that
could hold all the toy parts inside.
