Cedar Plank

Can a person go to the lumber yard and obtain an untreated cedar plank and use it to grill salmon ?

It is possible - if you have a good lumber yard where they really know their lumber, and are willing to do the cutting and planing for you (which you will be charged for) or if you have a friend who has a good woodworking shop that can rip and plane the untreated cedar planks for you.

Watch out for the obvious fist choice - cedar shingles. These are almost always treated with a fire retardant chemical these days.

I'm always nervous I will somehow get a plank that is treated, so I just stick to the stuff I can buy that has a wrapper on it that says it's for food.

Many of the big box lumber yards have culinary approved cedar planks. Check over by the BBQs. LOL
