Heehaw, I am very excited!!

... I made some Baklava the other day, and somehow I was left with extra mixture of walnut pieces, brown sugar and cinnamon...about 130g of it. I prepared the called-for amount and the Baklava came out lovely, I don't know where it went wrong...

Anyhow, I wanted to utilise this leftover somehow, and decided to make some impromptu cookies, and they came out absoloooooooootely delicious!! So here's how it went...

I first cut up 150g (about 5oz) of Butter in small cubes
In a bowl I mixed
230g (8oz)of regular flour
100g(3,5oz) of sugar
and this leftover mixture, which are consisted of roughly
-80g(3oz) of crushed walnuts
-40g(1,5oz) of brown sugar
-1tsp of cinnamon
then into this bowl I added the cubes of butter, rubbed them into the dried mixture
then add 1 egg and blended the whole thing well
dropped spoonfuls of this mixture on to a baking sheet, and baked them at 180C/350F for 10-12 minutes. (do not overbake!!)-my batter produced 30 medium sized cookies.
Okay now you know what to do with those Baklava leftovers!!

But even if you don't have the leftover this recipe is worth a try!!
I am quite sure they would be equally delicious with hazelnuts or almonds, if they are more convenient for you!!
Buon Appetito!!:chef:
