Browning ground beef in stainless?

Q on browning beef...
sorry to do this here, but couldn't find a more appropriate spot.

can you brown ground beef in a stainless steel pan, or areyou asking for trouble?

do I need to add oil even though the beef has lots of fat?

Yes and yes. But make sure that your pan is hot and you'll need to deglaze the pan with either a liquid that you're going to add to the recipe, or with water when you're finished cooking the beef.
 
...also, don't overcrowd the pan. The temperature will drop and you'll end up with gray rather than brown beef. Brown in smaller batches.
