  1. 1 cube steak per person,
  2. ¼ cup of all purpose flour,
  3. 2 eggs, and
  4. 4 tablespoons of milk,
  5. seasoning salt, and
  6. pepper.
For the gravy you will need :

  1. 1/3 cup of all purpose flour,
  2. 8 tablespoons of butter, and
  3. 3 cups of milk,
  4. salt and pepper.
Cut the cube steaks into 4 or 5 equal pieces. Prepare your deep fryer or heat your oil in the skillet until very hot. Mix together the flour, seasoning salt (use enough until the flour turns a bit orange), and pepper. Stir together the 2 eggs and milk. Dip the steak strips into the flour mixture and then into the egg mixture and then once more into the flour mixture.

Place the steak stripes into your deep fryer and fry until golden brown. When you have the last remaining strips in the fryer, get out a skillet and melt 8 tablespoons of butter. When the butter is completely melted add 1/3 cup of flour. Stir constantly until lightly brown. Add milk and keep stirring as the gravy thickens as more milk until desired consistency. Then season to taste with the salt and pepper. Pour over steak strips or serve in a separate bowl for dipping.

You can also use the above deep fried steak recipe without cutting the steaks into strips. You can substitute the spices to your favorites and add other garnishments. You do not have to use cube steak any type of boneless steak will work just as well. The secret is in the way that you coat your steak.

You should always coat in flour, then in the egg mixture and then once again in the flour before frying.
