What Spices and herbs do you like in a sweet meatball sauce?

The only sweet(ish) meatball sauce I've ever had was just chili sauce and grape jelly. It didn't need anything else

ditto the jelly & chili sauce. i would add sage, though.

what do you mean by sweet meatball sauce? do you mean a tomato sauce w/meatballs that isn't hot (spicey) from spices? ie sweet italian sausage vs. hot italian sausage. that kind of sweet or sweet like sugar? if you mean a non hot or spicey tomato sauce i use fresh herbs: basil, oregano and parsley.

Sweet like brown sugar and honey sweetened tomato sauce.

ok i have never done that sorry. my mom on occasion would make a sweet sauce by adding white sugar to tomato sauce, when she made homemade sweet ravioli. i think she used the same herbs though.
