Since she has bacon, eggs and grits daily...it could be due to the eggs, genetics, clean living...a whole array of factors. Just that she puts it down to the bacon is a tad random to me. Processed meat has a dubious reputation.

I will assume it's the bacon that did the trick. But even if that's not the case, it certainly didn't cause a premature demise.
