Here’s a new word game to play. I’m sure many of you remember word ladders. Two words with the same number of letters. In each step, you change one letter until the last word has been formed. You try to do it in as few steps as possible.

In this modified version, the object is to keep the ladder going. Change one letter in a four letter word (not that kind of four letter word) to make a new word. Proper nouns and names are okay. Please spell correctly!

If you reach an impasse, type “knock,” and the next contributor gets to choose the next word. There are no winners or losers, so perhaps it doesn’t qualify as a real game, but I thought it might be fun to try! I’ll start it out with an easy one.

Bear

Tear

Do we have to keep the letters in order? Or does moving one letter count? So would "barf" work or how about "bare"?

Yes, the letters must remain in order. Neither “barf nor bare would would work.
