TRUTH !!
NASA held a ceremony in Palmdale, California on September 17, 1976 to unveil
its new space shuttle, THE Enterprise.
Development of the craft had taken nearly a decade, and had cost almost $10
billion (USD).
Even though it was the first space shuttle developed, it was not the first
to actually reach space. In 1977, Enterprise was lifted to a height of
25,000 feet by a Boeing 747 airplane and then released, gliding back to
Edwards Air Force Base on its own during approach and landing tests.
Columbia was the first shuttle to actually go into space, flying the first
five space shuttle missions, beginning in April 1981.
