Patton stated he had seen war several times before in previous lives. He
fought as a Roman legionnaire and as part of the 14th-century army of John
the Blind of Bohemia. Patton also believed that after he died, he would
return to once again lead troops into battle.
Nine months before Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) was born, his mother had given
birth to another son, also called Salvador, who had died of an infectious
stomach inflammation in 1903. Because the younger Salvador looked so much
like his dead brother, the parents believed he was a reincarnation of their
son. When Dalí was five, his mother took him to see his brother's grave, and
told him that he was his older brother's reincarnation. Dalí believed her,
and as an adult said that the elder Salvador was "a first version of myself
but conceived too much in the absolute". One of Dalí's later works was
called 'Portrait of My Dead Brother' (c.1963).
