Cabbage, tomato sauce and kielbasa.

Enhanced by sour cream and well accompanied by bread and butter.

Still goes with nothing.

Have you tried cabbage rolls? Boiled cabbage leaves with your favorite mixture of rice, meatloaf (good with Italian sausage, ground beef mix), all rolled into the cabbage leaves, sauced with tomato sauce of your choice, and baked to perfection. For sides, rutabaga mashed with butter, a touch of brown sugar, and black pepper. For desert, Crepes folded around blueberry pie filling, like a burrito.

Might try something like that one day.

Sauce:
14 oz. can crushed tomato
1 cup grape tomatoes, cut in half
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 tsp. dried sweet basil
1/4 tsp. granulated garlic
1 tsp. black pepper.
2 tbs. neutral cookin oil

Heat oil in pan. When fragrant, add onion and sweat until soft. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer over low heat until cherry tomatoes are broken down, use over cabbage rolls.

Cabbage Roll Filling:
3/4 lb. ground beef
1.4 lb. Italian sausage
1 large egg
3/4 cup cooked rice
1/2 onion, minced
1 1/2 tsp salt
2tsp. black pepper

Mix together all ingredients. Form into 2 inch thick logs that are cut into 3 inch pieces.

Remove the thick end from a head of cabbage. Remove the first layer of leaves. Cut out the core. Immerse the cabbage head into salted, boiling water, and cook for 15 minutes. Remove the outer leaves as they get tender. Wrap leaves around your filling until it's all used up. Spoon a layer of tomato sauce into a rectangular casserole, or baking pan. Lay in the cabbage rolls. Cover with remaining sauce. Place into a 350' oven and bake for 40 minutes, basting with sauce every 15 minutes or so. Serve with mashed, or oven baked potatoes.

You will enjoy it.
