Howdy, Welcome to D.C.!!
You will find a wonderful bunch of folks here that can, generally speaking, provide an answer to most any question you may have. We look forward to hearing from you!

My tip of the day to newcomers.

Don't add salt to boiling potatoes. My dad was getting on in age and would sprinkle salt in the boiling potatoes. They were unedible, super briny tasting.
I had to put a note on salt shaker that read, "Don't add to boiling potatoes". He would anyways. "Damnit, Dad"

My mum was a terrible cook, I can laugh about it now, I never could understand why things turned out so bad at every mealtime, her own mother and father were quite good at cooking, grandma was especially good at baking, maybe it skipped a generation. I was one of those kids that used to look forward to school meals!!!!
