I have 4 tubs of Polish Lisner herring in different sauces, one gherkin, one salmon etc... All in thick sauces sealed with a thin plastic lining and strong plastic top, I've been away for 2 weeks and they have expired on the 3/05 2019 but the ingredients contain salt and sugar etc...

Are they safe to eat do you think?

They "expired" on 3 May? What does "expired" mean in the UK? Does it mean "best before"? If that's what it means, then I would give them a sniff and eat it, if it still smelled good. But, that's me.

I would think just the odor of fish gone bad would be the best clue.

Welcome to DC. Glad to have you aboard! Do stick around for lots of recipes and fun.
