i guess i've done this backasswards. already posted a few comments and perhaps a question and neglected to introduce myself, first. didn't mean to be rude, just overly enthusiastic (some say spaz-tic).

don't really specialize or have a favorite cuisine, but if you place a plate of homemade cookies in front of me, you've made a friend for life (i usually have at least one bag of frozen cookie dough, all rolled up, ready to be popped straight into the oven, cuz you never know when that urge will hit at 3am in the morning). and if it's a choice between a plate of fresh-out-of-the-oven cookies and the cure to all my ailments...tough call.

trying to learn to cook better to compensate for the fact that i rarely am ever able to afford dining out. there's a show here in Chicago, called Check Please that is just food porn for me. sometimes try to figure out how they make a dish, practically never works, but guess you never know until you try.

i'm sorta' like a puppy, bumping into things on wobbly, scampering legs. so if i trample on any toes, apologize beforehand. must be all those cookies.

thank you for reading

Doesn't matter how you did it, but, glad you're here and Welcome to DC!!

I liked your intro! No worries, help for everything from an unhappy heart to last-minute "Oh I blew up the kitchen..." help is here. These folks are the bomb, and you'll be just fine.

thank you, kitchenelf. that would be a great day when i blow all the chefs outta' the water with my amazing cooking skills. now i'll just have one little victory at a time. today, my man declared that my homemade pizza dough was better than frozen...i guess that's a compliment considering the last time he was this excited was my "fish swimming in butter" dish (but doesn't anything swimming in butter taste good?).

thank you Erinny. i hope i won't be reporting back on any blown-up kitchens...though i have melted a few water kettles. thanks for the compliment on my spaztic intro and the moral support. sometimes needed when you're floundering in the kitchen.

also wanted to say thanks to Uncle Bob for giving me a 4-exclamation compliment, just in case i didn't make that clear the first time.

again, thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome. i'm all giddy. i get that way when a bunch of people are nice to me...or when i think of food.
