I recently refurbished a vintage Kitchenaid Mixer. It's a K5-A that I think is 60 or 70 years old.

It looks good and seems to work good. I tuned up the speed, so that the slowest speed rotates at 60x per minute. But, I don't know if the highest speed should be higher than it is.

Has anyone noticed if vintage machines are simply slower at the highest speed than modern KA mixers? Side by side my modern one seems faster at the highest speed than the vintage.

I'm trying to determine if this is normal, or should I try to figure out a way to speed up it's fastest speed.

Nice that you have a vintage model - I've been through 2 newer ones with various repairs and failures. My original machine from the 60's (mom's cast off) never failed and I'm so sorry I gave it away in favor of a shiny pretty new one.
