That's a great idea! You can handle a couple of large items today or a lot of smaller items tomorrow and the burner will always be exactly the right size for every pan. Fantastic.

If it turns out to be a rapid response electric similar to an induction cooktop, that would be extra great.

Why couldn't it be an induction cooktop. With individual induction coils in each hexagonal space that turn on in response to sensors in the cooktop. There could also be temperature sensors in the cooktop that would automatically sense uneven heating and vary the power to each inductive coil to guarantee even heat distribution in the pan. I would want a gas grill on the side, with a powerful downdraft and outside exhaust though, so that in the winter, I could still grill a good steak.:LOL:
