I see something similar to these every time I order a delivery pizza. They're white, plastic, consisting of a round disk with three prongs about 2 inches long sticking out of the bottom They're designed to keep the lid of the pizza box from smashing the pizza when you pile them about 10 high in the back seat of the delivery car.

Yeah - in this house we call them "pizza tables" & often throw them on the floor for the cats to play with! 
Cassapole
I use them when I cook.
Also when I make stuffed flan steak, they are awesome are keeping the steak together then I cut them into one inc thick pieces and broil. The cassapole keeps the spiral together while it Cooks.
