Do I need any special treatment or cleaning to use SS cookware for the first time?

It depends on the product I guess. Usually, warm soapy water is just fine. But I have had some pieces (Kitchenaid for example) that appeared to have traces of polishing compound present. In those cases I used Bar Keepers Friend.

I don't think that any special treatment need to clean a new stainless steel pot or pan. Soap or cookware cleaner and water is enough to clean stainless steel cookware before first use. But yes, you can season the stainless steel pan before first use to make it a little bit more nonstick.
