'Handi' or 'hadi' or 'hari' is a cooking utensil used by Indian.

Handi is generally used for cooking different types of preparations from rice like biryani, pulao etc.

Well, yes, Handi is a cooking utensil used by Indians, for preparing meals, Like casseroles here. Its a bowl kinda utensil in which curries are prepared. The other Indian utensils include, 'Kadai' which is similar to a wok, used to deep fry food, and 'Tawa' similar to a griddle, to prepare Indian flat breads.. I hope i helped you understand it :)

thanks, Radhuni.

Out of curiosity, are there any tajin recipes or uses for a tajine in Indian cookery? Maybe in the north?

Do you know what they traditionally cook dosai on in the south(do you know a good dosai recipe;), I LOVE southern Indian cuisine!)?
