Is it really necessary to soak new PP container in water

some said it's necessary to soak a new PP(Polypropylene) food container in water or lemon water for a night or two to clean out the dust or dirt or chemical residue left on the surface is it really necessary from the science point of view

Never heard of that.

I always wash new containers with soap and water or put them in the dishwasher before using them.

I always wash everything before using - something probably everyone does. If they are things that will get washed in the DW, that's where they'll go.

No dishwasher here except me, but I always wash any new containers.Period.
