Decision time

My folks are getting me a new knife for my birthday. After doing some research I think I have decided on the Shun Kanso series.

It is between the 8 inch Chefs knife and the 7 inch utility. I'm kind of leaning towards the utility as I have some decent chefs knives and don't have anything like the utility style. Either one would be a great knife.

Which would you choose and why?

If you already have "some decent chefs knives", why would you want another? Is this the 7" utility knife you're looking at?

That's the one. I think I will end up picking that one. I have some smaller chef style utilities, but that one looks very useful. And honestly, it just looks really cool.

I'm a knife geek. A poor knife geek, but one just the same.

You know it's better if you at least hold the knife before you buy, but I agree it's a very cool looking knife.
