Celebrities and their cookware.

I agree that the celebrity stuff is junk more often than not (but not always).

But I was pleasantly surprised with a 2 piece Paula Deen Santoku set I bought at Walmart for $17 ( 7" Santoku and small 4" Santoku. It's really quite good stuff, similar in quality to my Henckels 4-star chef's knife, which cost much more. They take a good edge and hold it a long time; they are well made and well balanced; forged not stamped, ergonomic handles- the works. Now, forged isn't necessarily better than stamped, but it is usually more expensive, so that $17 price is awesome.
 
Those companies always use the easy way out and use cheap steel to try and make a profit.

You'd think these respectable chefs would want to put their name on a good product.
