Hi,

I made bread and butter pickles yesterday in a small stove top waterbath environment rather than my big pressure cooker, but realized when I took the last set out they weren't boiling. When I made dill the week before, the liquid in the pints was always boiling. Is this an issue? They sealed.

Thanks,

Meg

Was the water boiling? The water needs to be boiling for the entire processing time in order for the canning process to work. The fact that the lids sealed doesn't mean the contents are properly preserved.

Did you take the jars out of the canner immediately, or did you turn off the heat and allow the jars to rest in the canner for five minutes?
