Left out turmeric

I made bread and butter pickles today and it just struck me that the liquid is clear. I left out the turmeric! What will they taste like? Should I scrap the batch?

Welcome to the forum!

Don't worry about it - they will still taste good. I did the same thing before, and should have realized it before looking at the completed pickles, thinking about how "different from normal" they looked.

The tiny amount of turmeric in b&b pickles imparts very little flavour - itīs mostly for colour. No big deal.

Was gonna say the same thing. its more of a visual than taste. IF you taste those with and without side by side you'll notice the difference , but by themselves will taste fine, just a different color green.

The good thing about leaving out the turmeric is that you won't stain your table or table cloth if a pickle or two drops on it.
