My hubby's Aunt made some mean pickled weiners, which my son loved. She gave me her recipe before she died. She called them Wienier Peppers. Here it is:
Aunt Thelma's Wiener Peppers
2 gallons hot peppers
5 large onions
4 packages Wieners (hot dogs)
32 ounces catsup (ketchup)
1 pint vinegar
3 cups sugar
1/2 cup oil
1 tablespoon salt
Slice peppers, onions and hot dogs, set aside
Mix catsup, oil, vinegar, salt and sugar, boil.
Add peppers, onions and hot dogs. Cook 20 minutes.
Pack and seal.
Makes 10 pints.
