Sharpening a knife - everything you need to know

i found a good site for sharpening knives while looking for info on how to sharpen my axe properly. this is much more than i need to know about sharpening; if i want them that sharp i'll go to a professional, but i found this interesting none-the-less.

Yep, that's quite a bit of info!!!! I like the tip on how to position your thumb.

Yes, using the thumb as a guide would really help keep the angle consistent.

Thanks Bucky!!! I just glanced at this link, but I can tell it will be really helpful. I have it bookmarked for future reference. I LOVE the thumb trick! That is the one reason I have not tried to learn how to sharpen myself. I was too nervous that I would not be able to estimate the right angle. This will help a ton I am sure. Great now I need to go buy a stone LOL
