Hi I'm Donna,

I found this forum by googling "food forums". I have a bit of a problem that has me puzzled. I am in the midst of cooking been soup. (Little navy beans). I soaked them overnight and have been cooking them on high for hours and hours and they are still hard. I have never encountered this problem before. Has anyone else? Are the beans too old or something?

Hi Donna,
glad you found us and welcome to DC. We have a topic for beans, and pasta, why not post your question on there. I'm sure many will be more than willing to help. My thoughts are that the beans are old and also, I never add anything acid or add salt to my beans til they are almost done. I find that acid and salt tends to toughen them. But try our bean topic and I'm sure the experts will help you.
